Tip of the Week – Read a Book Every Month

Read a book every month to grow your business. From my experience you will learn at least 3 things that can be applied to your business. I am currently reading First Break all the Rules by Marcus Buckingham and Curt Coffman. Great books to start with are: The One Thing to Win at the Game of Business by Creel Price, What it Takes by Mark Bouris and Business Stripped Bare by Richard Brandson. Other gems include Good to Great by Jim Collins and Midas Touch by Donald Trump and Robert Kiyosaki

Tip for the new year – A Profit and Loss report that works!

To really use your accounts to analyse how your business is going requires custom accounts. For instance a Landscaper needs several income accounts not just “Sales” Useful income accounts would be Maintenance – Domestic, Maintenance – Commercial, Landscape Projects. The benefit is you can easily identify the best performing incomes streams and target them to grow the business less

You can finish what you are doing and feel great (one more thing off the “to do list”!) Now you have time to consider their problem, do some research if necessary and call them back. If someone asks you to do something someone else in your office could do. Say No. The possibilities are endless. The more you say No the easier it gets and the more time you will have. Try it and see
